The problem is. Only several dozen years ago, when one woman of childbearing age fell 2.10 children there was a guarantee of the functioning of the social security system as it currently exists. Unfortunately, many things have changed over the years and today the trend is more and more worrying. In Poland in 2000 the coefficient referred to above was equal to 1.37, and now is 1.31. There is one conclusion: in a few dozen years there will be a shortage of money for pensions. How does the government want to fight this fact? We decided to check it ...
Young mother? Unwanted employee ...
Data from the labor ministry are not optimistic: at the end of the first half of 2012, 211,000 were added to the register of unemployed persons. women who did not take up paid work after giving birth. It is more about 18 thousand. than a year ago and more by 36,000 than two years ago. Why is this happening? Many companies, especially small ones, cannot afford the employment of young mothers who are potentially "at risk" of staying at home more often with a sick child, less availability, the inability to stay after hours, the need to visit schools for interviews, etc. Also a problem insufficient number of nurseries and kindergartens, or their complete absence in smaller towns, which at the outset exclude women from the possibility of taking up employment.
Due to all these factors that make a young mother a less "attractive employee", the government is working on changing the regulations that will reduce the average time to look for a job after a three-year break to "raise a child" (today the average is 18 months).
There is an idea for companies that decide to employ an unemployed parent after parental leave they received one-time PLN 9,000 or PLN 750 monthly for a year in the form of a grant. It would be up to the employer to decide what exactly the money would be spent on: training young mothers, furnishing the office, or salary supplement. It is worth noting that this solution has worked well in other European countries.
Last two months pregnant on release?
Hot discussions also concern another aspect: viz sick leave during pregnancy. The Minister of Labor announced that he would meet with gynecologists and advisors and considered a proposal to provide a woman at the end of pregnancy (in the last two months) the possibility of obligatory use of sickness benefit.
This option would be open to any woman, regardless of medical examinations and indications of the gynecologist. The decision to switch to benefit would always be left to a woman.
This record would clear the market atmosphere. On the plus side, one could include avoiding combining, unclear and facilitating the planning of the functioning of the employer, who could simply plan a replacement for the time of dismissal.
